Introductory Post

 Hi, my name is Eugene. I was born in Los Angeles, California, but didn't stay for long until moving to Alaska and being raised in Anchorage. I'm pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering at UAF and currently in my fourth year. Some things I enjoy doing are playing video games, reading, and having a nice cup of coffee. I've traveled to South Korea on several occasions to see family, and it has given me interesting experiences, though it is hard to not feel embarrassed when I can't speak my family's tongue fluently. Hopefully that becomes an improvement for the future.


Mysterious black hole


When I joined my first band class back in elementary school, I picked the flute first out of interest. Then I switched to the trumpet for another short time until I eventually stuck with the trombone, all the way to the end of high school. I also took some piano lessons from someone my parents knew, but would always find myself bored and struggling to stay awake. Later on I found interest in teaching myself to play a few songs such as the ones from Minecraft, but unfortunately my parents decided to sell our piano after we moved to a new house a few years ago. I don't really listen to many songs nowadays, but I do enjoy catchy tunes from video games that I play. Some genres I like include instrumentals and maybe a bit of everything, since there isn't a particular genre I dislike as far as I know. I've been to a number of concerts, such as the ones for school, to see a friend perform, and some in public.

    Don't give up on Korean. One of my best buddies in high school had a similar experience, but he now spends months at a time in Korea, and his kids speak the language, too.

    Growing up I also liked minecraft music and would listen to it to fall asleep, haha. PS: I really enjoyed that instrumental! Thanks for sharing.

    That's really neat that you've tried out a couple of instruments, I can relate to enjoying piano when you can play songs you connect more with. The song you shared is cool, the saxophone is really funky!

I remember back in my childhood being so fond of Minecraft that it would be one of the best feelings of my life when my cousin booted up the Xbox 360 console. Evolution of EDM

  Introduction/History The earliest form of EDM, or Electronic Dance Music, came from the late 1970's when it was called disco music at the time. It was aimed to move crowds in dance floors using drum machines and electronic music for synth. In the 1980's was the post-disco era where synth music or synthpop was developed along with house and electronic music. Music during this era were beginning to be produced by the mainstream music industry in Europe while being more advanced and with technological advancements such as MIDI, which allowed electronic music to be more accessible and transformative by anyone with musical experience and a computer.
